Online Company Registration in Bulgaria
Introduction
Online company registration in Bulgaria has been a reality since 2008, when the Registry Agency launched the electronic portal of the Trade Register (Търговски регистър). Today, the process has been significantly streamlined and over 60% of new companies are registered electronically. Online filing offers lower fees, faster processing, and the convenience of managing the process from home or the office.
What Does "Online Registration" Mean?
Online registration means submitting application A4 and the accompanying documents electronically through the Trade Register portal, instead of visiting a Registry Agency office in person. The documents are signed with a QES (Qualified Electronic Signature), and the fee is paid online.
Advantages
Online registration offers a number of advantages over paper filing.
Lower State Fee
The state fee for electronic filing of application A4 is 28 EUR, while on paper it is 56 EUR. You save 28 EUR on the fee alone.
Faster Processing
Electronic applications are processed with priority. In practice, electronically filed applications are reviewed within 1-3 business days, while paper ones take 3-5 business days.
No Physical Visits
There is no need to travel to a Registry Agency office. You submit the application from your computer or mobile device at any time of day, including weekends and holidays.
24/7 Availability
The Trade Register portal operates around the clock. You can submit an application at 10:00 PM on a Sunday — it will be processed on the next business day.
Real-Time Tracking
After filing, you receive an entry number that you can use to track the status of your application online — when it was reviewed, whether there are instructions, when it was entered.
Fewer Errors
The electronic form includes built-in validations — the system alerts you to omissions or inconsistencies before submission.
What You Need
To register a company online, you need to prepare the following.
QES (Qualified Electronic Signature)
A QES is mandatory for electronic signing and filing of applications with the Trade Register. You have several options:
- Evrotrust — cloud-based QES from the mobile app in minutes, without visiting an office. Price: ~15-25 EUR/year. We recommend it for convenience.
- B-Trust Mobile — mobile app, packages from ~3 EUR/month up to ~59 EUR/year. Also offers classic smart cards.
- InfoNotary — smart card, ~25 EUR/year.
Escrow Bank Account
Before filing the application, you must have an escrow account opened with deposited capital and a bank certificate for the deposited capital.
Prepared and Signed Documents
Prepare the core documents for your case and have them signed by the appropriate persons:
- Articles of Association (EOOD) or Articles of Partnership (OOD)
- Resolution of the Sole Owner (EOOD) or Minutes of the Founding Meeting (OOD)
- Declaration under Art. 13(4) of the Commercial Register Act from the applicant
- Declarations under Art. 141(8) and (9) and Art. 142 of the Commerce Act from the manager
- Specimen signature of the manager
- Bank certificate / document of deposited capital
Internet Access and a Computer
You need a computer with electronic signature software installed (if using a smart card QES) or a smartphone with the Evrotrust app (for cloud-based QES).
Registration Steps
Online company registration follows six clear steps.
Step 1: Prepare the Documents with Firmify
Enter your company details in the Firmify platform — name, registered address, manager, capital, scope of activity. The system automatically generates the Articles of Association, minutes, declarations, and application A4.
Step 2: Obtain a QES
If you don't have an electronic signature yet, obtain a cloud-based QES from Evrotrust — the process takes about 10-15 minutes from the mobile app. Alternatively, visit a B-Trust or InfoNotary office.
Step 3: Open an Escrow Account
Visit the selected bank with the incorporation documents and your ID. Deposit the subscribed capital (minimum 1 EUR) and request a bank certificate of deposited capital.
Step 4: Sign the Documents with a QES
For electronic filing, the documents are signed with a QES by the appropriate persons: the Articles of Association / Articles of Partnership and the resolution / minutes by the founders, the declaration under Art. 13 by the applicant, and the declarations under Art. 141(8) and (9) and Art. 142 of the Commerce Act by the manager. Important: the manager's specimen requires mandatory notarial certification even for electronic filing. When using Firmify, the platform guides you step by step through the signing process. Full overview of methods (PDF upload, Evrotrust, other providers) — in the signing guide.
Step 5: File the Application Online
Log in to the Trade Register portal — Application A4, fill in the form, attach the signed documents, and sign the application with a QES.
Step 6: Pay the State Fee
Pay 28 EUR online via ePay, bank transfer, or debit/credit card. After successful payment, you receive an entry number for tracking.

In most cases, you can prepare and submit documents online. However, the manager's specimen signature requires mandatory notarization — a visit to a notary is needed even with electronic filing.
