Accountant & Lawyer for Your Company — Firmify Directory
How to Find an Accountant for Your Company in Bulgaria
When Do You Need an Accountant?
Every OOD or EOOD is required to maintain accounting records. Even a small company with minimal activity must:
- File annual financial statements — by March 31 with the National Statistical Institute (НСИ) and by June 30 with the Trade Register
- File an annual tax return — by June 30 with the NRA
- Submit VAT returns (if VAT-registered) — by the 14th of the following month
- Prepare payroll records (if there are employees)
Hiring a full-time in-house accountant is expensive for a small business. Outsourcing accounting is the standard practice.
How to Choose the Right Accountant
Specialization
Accountants have different specializations. Look for one familiar with your industry:
- E-commerce / SaaS — knowledge of VAT for digital services, OSS regime
- Construction — specific accounting, reverse charge VAT under Art. 163a
- Agriculture — subsidies, farmer registration
Price
Typical prices for accounting services in Bulgaria:
- Micro company without employees: 25–75 €/month
- Small company with 1-5 employees: 75–200 €/month
- Medium company: 200–500 €/month
Location
For small companies with few documents, location doesn't matter. More complex cases may require in-person meetings.
When Do You Need a Lawyer Instead of an Accountant?
For most EOODs and OODs, a good accountant is sufficient. However, there are situations where consulting a lawyer is advisable:
- Establishing a JSC (AD) or single-shareholder JSC (EAD) — more complex corporate structure, mandatory charter, and minimum capital of €25,565 (50,000 BGN at the fixed rate)
- Restructuring — mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs between related entities
- Legal disputes — labor, commercial, or tax litigation
- GDPR and data protection — obligations under Regulation (EU) 2016/679
- Intellectual property — trademarks, patents, licensing agreements
- Insolvency — when the company cannot service its debts
In the Firmify directory, you can also find lawyers with commercial law specialization. Filter by type "Lawyer / Law Firm" to see suitable profiles.
