B-Trust, Smart Card, and BISS

If you use a QES (Qualified Electronic Signature) on a smart card or USB token from providers such as B-Trust or InfoNotary, signing can be done through a local BISS service (Browser Independent Signing Service), which runs on your computer and enables signing the document hash.

What to Install

• Drivers and middleware for your smart card/token — according to the instructions from your provider (e.g., B-Trust).
• BISS often requires a local service running on your machine (typically on a localhost signing port) — start it before signing.
• Browser: the Trade Register portal and many services work best with Chrome or Firefox; also follow the QES provider's recommendations.

Signing in Firmify

1. On the signing screen, select the B-Trust / BISS option (if shown).
2. Allow the browser to access the local signing service if prompted.
3. Select the certificate and confirm the signature in the dialog windows.
4. Repeat for each document that requires your signature.

If the process cannot find the card or the service does not respond, check whether the reader is connected, whether the middleware is running, and whether the certificate is valid.
